Senators had no legislation to discuss for week

The Seanad did not reconvene last week because there was no Dáil legislation to debate and the leader of the House did not want to recall senators "to make statements".

The Seanad did not reconvene last week because there was no Dáil legislation to debate and the leader of the House did not want to recall senators "to make statements".

But senators will still be entitled to travel and accommodation payments for the week the Seanad didn't sit.

The Upper House resumes on Tuesday after four weeks leave for Christmas, having gone into recess on December 21, a day after the Dáil.
