Security: Cover angles to protect against attack

Non-security experts tasked with protecting their company's IT network are often faced with a bewildering array of security threats, writes Dermot Corrigan.

Viruses, worms, rootkits, botnets and the many other forms of malware may have amusing names, but they can do very serious damage to both an organisation's IT systems and its future business prospects.

The preponderance of different threats means organisations should take a layered approach to keeping their systems and data safe, according to Donnachadha Reynolds, security consultant at Integrity Solutions.
