Around 17,000 teachers in 540 secondary schools nationwide are likely to start a progressive campaign of industrial action in the coming weeks.

Members of the ASTI (Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland) voted by a margin of almost two to one last Friday to reject the Haddington Road public sector pay agreement. The ASTI is now the only union to have rejected the deal.
