The publication of the National Consumer Agency‘s (NCA) annual report last week showed that the agency had initiated almost 100 enforcement actions last year, although only six of these were prosecutions.

During 2009, the NCA issued 54 on-the-spot fines and 32 compliance notices and initiated six prosecutions. The NCA’s remit includes areas as diverse as misleading advertising, retail pricing and car clocking.
