Sean Quinn declared bankrupt in Belfast
UPDATE: The High Court in Belfast has declared the businessman, Sean Quinn, is bankrupt after an application from Quinn to the court.
The businessman Sean Quinn has been declared bankrupt by the High Court in Belfast.
The move came as a result of an application from Quinn, whose family owes €2.8 billion to Anglo Irish Bank, to the Belfast court earlier today.
In a lengthy statement earlier today, Quinn said he had done everything he could to avoid this step. He said that the vast majority of debt that Anglo maintains is owed was "strenuously disputed".
