Scheme delay will shrink pension pots

The delay in the introduction of a pension auto-enrolment scheme by another four years will knock 17 per cent off the pension pot for those without an existing pension, according to pension experts.

The delay in the introduction of a pension auto-enrolment scheme by another four years will knock 17 per cent off the pension pot for those without an existing pension, according to pension experts.

The decision to introduce mandatory pensions was put on hold until ‘‘such a time as the economy has stabilised’’ by the last government.
