Savoy to auction huge collection

London’s best loved institutions would appear to be hellbent on selling off the family silver.

In September we had Fortnum & Mason’s store clearance sale while this month, prior to its closure for a stg£100 million refurbishment, the Savoy Hotel will consign over 3,000 items of furniture, silver and art works to auction with no reserve prices.

The three day event is expected to realise in excess of £1 million.
