Many Irish children look set to receive a windfall of more than €300 during this year's communion and confirmation season.

With thousands of schoolchildren around the country set to partake in the religious ceremonies in the coming weeks, research shows that they can expect to receive substantial financial gifts.

According to the research by EBS, children will receive €337 on average as First Communion gifts in 2012, with those being confirmed set to receive €389....
