Working longer rather than austerity is the solution for France to deal with the ongoing economic crisis, President Sarkozy said in a speech about the economy in the southern port of Toulon.

Retirement at 60 and the 35 hour week have been serious mistakes for the country which must be reversed, he said. France must adapt its “social model” to reality, he said.
