TV3 has already started negotiations with ITV about retaining prime imported audience-pleasers like Coronation Street now that the British company has sold its stake.
The commercial TV station’s director of programming, Matthew Salway, said he was confident that TV3 had a good case for keeping the popular Mancunian soap opera, which regularly attracts audiences of around 400,000.
At present, ITV supplies roughly 60 per cent of TV3’s programming.
