Saint Francis Private Hospital, the Co Westmeath healthcare provider, is locked in talks with its banks this weekend over its debts.

VFM Healthcare, the company behind the Mullingar private hospital, is attempting to reach an accord with its main lender, Bank of Ireland, over its finances.

It is understood that the owners have been seeking new equity from potential investors in recent weeks in order to boost its financial position.
