Ryder Cup events cost Failte Ireland €3m

Event management company Platinum One, the main organisers of last year’s Ryder Cup, received more than €3 million in funding from Failte Ireland for organising the event’s opening and closing ceremonies.

Event management company Platinum One, the main organisers of last year’s Ryder Cup, received more than €3 million in funding from Failte Ireland for organising the event’s opening and closing ceremonies.

The government also agreed to pay the company’s €430,000 Vat bill for its expenses on the Ryder Cup official events programme. The Vat bill was paid by the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism after the Revenue Commissioners turned down...
