Ryanair is this weekend working on a response to EU demands for new concessions, before the latter is to consider giving clearance to the low-cost airline's bid for Aer Lingus.

Government sources believe that the EU Commission is set to reject the bid on competition grounds. However, by meeting Ryanair last week and outlining what areas it needs to be addressed, the Commission has not yet shown its hand.
