Ryanair bid investigation deadline may be extended, says Aer Lingus

UPDATE: Aer Lingus has said that the European Commission’s probe into Ryanair’s bid for the airline may be extended to facilitate a “renewed round of market testing”.

The Aer Lingus CEO told staff that he was “extremely aware of the concern that ongoing speculation like this causes you as employees of Aer Lingus.”

Aer Lingus chief executive Christoph Mueller has told staff that the European Commission’s investigation into Ryanair’s bid for the airline may be subject to a short extension to facilitate a “renewed round of market testing”.

Mueller confirmed in an information note circulated amongst staff that the company had received a copy of a new “remedy package" that Ryanair has given the European Commission.
