Ryan: bank lending policies ‘not acceptable’

Green Party minister Eamon Ryan has described the views of Irish Banking Federation (IBF) chief executive Pat Farrell on the banks’ lending policy to businesses as ‘‘not acceptable’’.

Green Party minister Eamon Ryan has described the views of Irish Banking Federation (IBF) chief executive Pat Farrell on the banks’ lending policy to businesses as ‘‘not acceptable’’.

Farrell told an Oireachtas committee last week that 35 per cent of small businesses were behind with their loan repayments and the banks had to factor this into their calculations in assessing other loan applications.
