Russia’s central bank raised its main interest rate by a half a point to 8 per cent, in an unexpected move, warning that geopolitical tensions were increasing the risk of inflation.
The increase was the third since March.
The Bank of Russia said if the risk of high inflation persists, it will continue to raise its key rate.
