Many people pay less attention to skincare product labels than to food packaging labels. Pretty packaging and vacuous buzzwords, such as ‘natural’, ‘gentle’ and ‘kind’, are more attention-grabbing than a list of chemical ingredients printed on the back of the package.

Understanding this medical jargon is difficult. You could be forgiven for thinking that phthalates is an exercise regime or that lauryl glucoside is some sort of old-fashioned chemical...
