Ruairí Quinn resigns from Cabinet
UPDATE: ASTI president Sally Maguire said Quinn's "failure to consult with classroom practitioners" on proposals was "regrettable".
Minister for Education Ruairí Quinn has resigned from the Cabinet and said he will not seek re-election as a TD.
His resignation will take effect from the day of the cabinet re-shuffle, which is planned for next week.
"I have been privileged to serve," Quinn said, making the announcement outside Leinster House this afternoon.
