Questions still remain over the digital terrestrial television project, on which RTE is now working alone. RTE’s statement to the Oireachtas Communications Committee last week made clear that DTT - which is a key issue for a million Irish people - is definitely on the way, but will offer amore limited choice of channels than had been envisaged and will come at an as yet unspecified cost for householders.
