RTE's head of external affairs, Mairéad Ní Nuadháin, has said that RTE is on course to break even in 2013.

She told RTE Radio One's Drivetime programme that "deep cuts" across the broadcaster have put the organisation on track to eliminate annual losses.

"It's only March but it looks like we will break even this year," said Ní Nuadháin.
