RTE hopes to launch Ireland's first digital radio service next year, almost seven years after its first test broadcasts began.
Although digital radio has been successful in Britain, technical and regulatory problems have prevented the launch of an Irish service.
But RTE's head of radio operations, JP Coakley, has confirmed that the broadcaster is “talking about doing something next year because it is the 80th anniversary of the first radio broadcast from the state.”...
