The ambulance service in Roscommon is failing to respond on time to people with critical conditions, despite the promises made after the closure of the local accident and emergency department.

Both Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Health Dr James Reilly had given assurances that there would be sufficient cover, with three ambulances on call in Roscommon by day and two by night.
