Romney wins primary in bellwether state Ohio

UPDATE: Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney won the Republican presidential primary in Ohio and has also taken Alaska.

Mitt Romney had 38 per cent of the vote in Ohio.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has won the Alaska Republican presidential caucuses, the Associated Press said.

Earlier, Romney was said to have won the primary race in the key state of Ohio, overcoming a challenge from former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.

In Ohio, Romney had 38 per cent of the vote, with 99 per cent of precincts reporting, compared with 37 per cent for Santorum, almost 15 per cent for former US House Speaker Newt...
