A trust held by US presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his wife Ann benefited from the movement of hundreds of millions of dollars through Ireland.

Documents released in the US last week show that Romney and his wife invested in a $4.5 billion Cayman Islands fund that channelled loans through a number of countries, including Ireland.
