UPDATE: Labour's Róisín Shortall has resigned her position as junior minister in the Department of Health, saying it was no longer possible to fulfill her role.

Labour's Róisín Shortall has resigned her position as junior minister in the Department of Health, saying it was no longer possible for her to fulfill her role.

"It is with regret that I have today tendered my resignation as Minister of State at the Department of Health to An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny," she said.

"I have also informed the Tanaiste, Eamon Gilmore, that I am resigning the Parliamentary Labour Party whip.
