Riverdeep deal driven by tax

Riverdeep has taken a huge bite out of the US tax take.

What the US authorities will make of Riverdeep’s $3.4 billion acquisition of US book publisher Houghton Mifflin remains to be seen. That is, once they realise that Riverdeep plans to park Houghton’s future profits and intellectual property in Ireland in order to avoid higher US taxes.
