National press advertising rose by 13 per cent in the first six months of this year, according to figures from the National Newspapers of Ireland.

Advertisers spent a total of €170.7 million between January and June – €28 million more than in 2004.

Property, recruitment and retail advertising all made a contribution.

The total amount spent was boosted considerably by an expansion of the NNI membership to include Irish editions of British titles.
