Review of surgical deaths to be published in autumn

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) will publish a review of surgical deaths at 18 Irish hospitals this autumn.

The review into deaths after surgery is taking place following the publication in this newspaper last weekend of an international report which showed Ireland had the fourth highest rate of deaths after surgery of all 28 countries in Europe. Ireland had the highest death rate in Western Europe.
