The Revenue Commissioners have warned farmers that the poor quality of their tax returns is drawing unnecessary attention from the taxman.
The tax authority issued the warning after growing concerned about the number of farmers who were not accurately recording payments from the Department of Agriculture in their annual tax returns.
Revenue said that the poor quality paperwork was drawing Revenue resources away from focusing on non-compliant farmers "who compete unfairly against compliant taxpayers".
