More than 56,000 PAYE taxpayers were targeted by the Revenue Commissioners last year in a major clampdown on workers who raise a red flag under Revenue risk analysis.

According to figures quoted by the Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, in response to a recent parliamentary question, just over 56,000 taxpayers were issued a Form 12 last year under a "general issue" based on "Revenue risk criteria".
