Revenue performance

Automation, internal reform and the growing culture of tax compliance of the public all contributed to the improved performance of the Revenue Commissioners last year.

Back in 1988, tax arrears were equal to 40 per cent of the total tax yield. By 1994, this had fallen to around 15 per cent. Last year, the figure fell to a new low of 2.5 per cent.
