Revenue Commissioners sounds fresh warning to tax evaders
The official leading the Revenue Commissioners’ new probe into trusts and offshore structures has said that the ‘‘net is closing’’ on tax evaders, writes Ian Kehoe
Denis Holligan said the Irish tax authority decided to launch the new investigation after assessing international financial patterns and flows of capital.
‘‘We are following the money,” according to Holligan, who said that the ‘‘shroud of secrecy’’ was being lifted. The Revenue confirmed last Friday that it was investigating the use of trusts and offshore structures by Irish residents to avoid paying tax.
