The amount of money collected by the Revenue Commissioners from audits fell by €160 million last year, with Revenue carrying out 1,400 fewer audits of companies and self-employed people in 2010.

New figures released by the Revenue showed that 11,008 audits were carried out last year, down from 12,404 in 2009, a fall of 11 per cent.
