Unemployed Irish people need retraining to equip them with the skills they need to meet future labour demand, OECD economist David Haugh said today.
Speaking on RTE's Morning Ireland programme, Haugh conceded that labour demand was currently weak in this country but said that was expected to change.
The long-term unemployed, particularly those who used to work in the construction sector, needed retraining, he said.
