Retailers want moratorium on rent hikes

Retail Excellence Ireland (REI) is to lobby the government to introduce emergency legislation putting a temporary moratorium on the increasing of commercial rents by landlords.

David Fitzsimons of REI, which represents almost 600 retailers, said the move was in response to the large rent increases which are still being sought by some landlords.
