International retailers are awaiting the outcome of the B&Q examinership to see whether the DIY chain can walk away from leases despite guarantees from its parent company.

Last year, the issue of parent-company guarantees was tested during the examinership of Atlantic Homecare, which is owned by Grafton. Retail sources said it was complicated by the fact that Grafton bought Atlantic as a standalone business and it is understood there weren't guarantees from Grafton...
