Retail sales rise 0.4% in August from July
UPDATE: The volume of retail sales dropped 0.6 per cent in August from the same month last year, but sales were up 0.4 per cent from July, according to the CSO.
The volume of retail sales rose 0.4 per cent in August from July, marking the second monthly gain in row, according to figures released by the Central Statistics Office.
The sectors with the largest month on month volume increases were bars (3.2%) and hardware, paints and glass (2.1%). The largest monthly decreases were seen in furniture and lighting (-3.5%), and clothing, footwear and textiles (-2.3%).
Retail sales rose 0.7 per cent in July from June.
