Christmas retail sales will be the best since 2008, according to Retail Ireland, the Ibec group representing the retail sector.

The group has predicted sales of €4.05 billion for Christmas 2015 — a 3.5 per cent increase on last year’s Christmas period.

Retail Ireland said that retail sales figures so far this year and the positive impact on consumer sentiment likely to follow the expected tax cuts in next week’s Budget would boost spending.
