Maynooth University blends education and innovation.

Dr Ronan Farrell, Senior Lecturer in Maynooth University Electronic Engineering Department, with Dr Rosemary Monahan, Lecturer in Maynooth University Computer Science Department and Prof Brian Donnellan of the Maynooth University School of Business, Innovation Value Institute, in an electronic engineering lab on the north campus of the college.

Maynooth University is revolutionising its research and teaching strategies to meet the challenges of “the third platform”, the rapidly emerging platform of technologies comprising cloud computing, mobile computing, big data and social media.

“We are witnessing the disruption of conventional models of IT service delivery by cloud computing,” said Bernard Mahon, vice-president for research at Maynooth University.

“This trend will both shake out many old industries and create many new areas...
