The state is facing a €25million bill to dispose of municipal waste from the Republic that was dumped illegally in the North.

The state is facing a €25million bill to dispose of municipal waste from the Republic that was dumped illegally in the North.

A file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), James Hamilton, in relation to the dumping of waste at 20 sites across the North.

The waste was dumped by Republic-based criminals, and several high-profile criminal investigations are ongoing by the Garda and the PSNI.
