Report warns of legal risk to alcohol retailers

Alcohol retailers are taking a significant legal risk by accepting any proof of ID other than a Garda age card when deciding whether they can sell drink to teenagers.

Alcohol retailers are taking a significant legal risk by accepting any proof of ID other than a Garda age card when deciding whether they can sell drink to teenagers.

This is according to a report by retailers group Responsible Retailing of Alcohol in Ireland (RRAI). The authors have asked the government to change the code to allow passports and other forms of ID to be used.
