Report to include legal regulator proposals

The Competition Authority’s final report on lawyers - which is due to be published tomorrow - is expected to include proposals for a regulator to oversee barristers and solicitors.

The government has already announced plans for a legal ombudsman to deal with complaints against lawyers, but it’s believed that the authors of the Competition Authority report feel that the proposal does not go far enough.
