Retailers are relatively positive about the outlook for the sector over the next 12 months, according to a new survey.

However, 86 per cent also believe that the cost of doing business in Ireland is too high. Retail businesses surveyed by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) said that the single most important challenge facing their organisations was maintaining existing margins.

Increasing market share was the second-biggest challenge. Lack of credit was the third.
