Bus Eireann claims it operates the school transport scheme on a ‘cost recovery basis’

An independent report has undermined repeated claims by Bus Eireann that it does not make a profit on the school transport scheme.

Rivals have claimed that Bus Eireann is covering up its profits to avoid putting the contract for the scheme out to public tender. Bus Eireann said that it operates school transport on a ''cost-recovery basis and does not generate profits from it.
