Registration fee for social workers is "employment tax" says union

A new €295 annual registration fee for social workers and 11 other professions has been labelled as unfair and a “tax on employment”.

A new €295 annual registration fee for social workers and 11 other professions has been labelled as unfair and a “tax on employment”.

The annual fee is set to come into force from next year. Social workers will be the first group of workers expected to pay the fee and those who do not pay will be legally barred from practicing after 31st May 2013.
