Released in 1995, Albert and Allen Hughes’s Dead Presidents was a tale of black GIs who return from active service in Vietnam to a cold, unwelcoming America that has moved on without them.
It did reasonable but unspectacular business at the box office, with its interesting premise let down by some clunky dialogue and hammy performances by a couple of the leads.
