The downturn in the economy may be taking its toll on Irish business, but there are some opportunities for new companies, according to Damian Young, head of small business segments, Bank of Ireland Business Banking.

The number of start-ups setting up in Ireland dropped by 21 per cent in the three-month period from January to March last year, compared to the same period in 2007. So far this year, the start-up rate has dropped again....
