Reassigned soldiers will still get allowances

Soldiers who are reassigned to new roles as part of a shake-up of the Defence Forces will continue to receive special technicians' pay and allowances.

Soldiers who are reassigned to new roles as part of a shake-up of the Defence Forces will continue to receive special technicians' pay and allowances, even where their new positions do not attract these payments, under a deal between the Department of Defence and the soldiers' representative body Pdforra.

The agreement was reached as part of ongoing discussions relating to defence minister Alan Shatter's decision to reduce the number of brigades in the armed forces...
