Whatever the timetable for 4G, rural Ireland looks set to benefit from Vodafone's latest initiative.

Are you waiting breathlessly for 4G services to arrive in Ireland? Don't, if the feedback from Irish mobile operators is accurate. What you really want is proper 3G data in more of the country before worrying about 4G.

At least, that is the thinking behind Vodafone's current initiative: to make 3G data available in every place that 2G voice is available.
