Reading it right with a little help from Pops

Mayo mother-of-three, Marie Dunleavy, is both co-author and founder of the Pops Family Books and Resources, a reading scheme for children with reading difficulties.

A former computer programmer, Dunleavy lives in Edinburgh. She developed the colourful series of books and word cards for her eldest son Daniel, 9, who suffers from Down syndrome. Thanks to his mother’ s Pops series (Plenty Of Potential)Daniel attends mainstream school and has a reading age of an older boy without special needs.
